      Get Information about Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Curriculum! 
    • Basic Course


      Date: October 1-4, 2026

      This course is being offered on-site at the Shrine of St. Thérèse at 1410 N. Wishon Ave. Fresno, CA 93728. The course runs four days, eight hours per day.

      The curriculum is comprised of 15 modules presented over the four days.

      These modules prepare the Faith Community Nurse to serve in this specialized ministry in complete collaboration with the Pastor and or Administrator of their church.

      Course Objectives at the completion of this course the nurse will be able to:

      • Articulate the philosophy & description of Faith Community Nursing
      • State three principles of Faith Community Nursing practices that are used within a faith community setting
      • Identify 2 steps required to comply with documentation standards set for FCN services in a faith community

      Course is recognized as a subspecialty in nursing practice. Gain 36.5 continuing education units upon completion.

      This course has been approved for 36.5 hours of continuing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Provider #000059

  • COURSE PRESENTERS

    • Lynne Eid, RN, FCN
      • Lynne graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a BSN in Nursing in 1980. Upon graduation, she served in the United States Air Force as an RN, four years active duty and four years in the reserves. Upon leaving the military, she moved to Bakersfield, California, married, and raised four children. She and her husband Ron continue to live in Bakersfield, and attend St. Philip the Apostle parish. Lynne’s nursing career has been in medical/surgical nursing, hospice, serving special needs students in a school setting, and faith community nursing, where she facilitated outreach to the elderly and homebound parishioners, support groups, health education, and more. Though currently retired, she continues to facilitate a grief support ministry in her parish, and volunteers in her community.

    • Emma Camarena, RN
      • Emma Camarena, RN, DNP, ACCNS-AG, CCRN, FCN is an Advanced Practice Nurse for the adult critical care areas at Kaweah Delta Health Care District in Visalia, CA. Emma collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in the care of the critically ill patient, researches evidence-based practice and translates the information to bedside nursing practice, implements best practice at the bedside through education and role modeling, writes and reviews policies, procedures and protocols. She is also a mentor to graduate, baccalaureate, and associate degree nursing students and teaches new Advanced Practice Nurses.


        Emma is the Faith Community Nurse for the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish in Visalia, CA. She works with registered nurses and community outreach specialists who volunteer their time and expertise to share wholistic educational opportunities to promote healthy behaviors for the parishioners. She also serves as a Faith Community Nurse Basic Course instructor and teach the Care Coordination and Health Promotion sections.
    • Dr. Vicky Pebsworth, OP, PhD, RN

      • Dr. Vicky Pebsworth, OP, PhD, RN, earned a doctorate in public health and nursing from the University of Michigan and a certificate in bioethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center. She has worked in healthcare for over 45 years, serving as a critical care nurse and healthcare administrator. Vicky serves as the Pacific Region Director of the National Association of Catholic Nurses and is a life-professed Lay Dominican. She also serves as a Faith Community Nurse within the Diocese of Fresno.
