Sr. Rosalie Rohrer, IHM, has dedicated her life to service, education, and the mission of the Church. Raised as the eldest child in a large family, she learned early the values of responsibility, generosity, and faith. Her parents were deeply involved in two Catholic parishes in the Atwater area, and family life revolved around volunteering wherever help was needed, a foundation that shaped Sr. Rosalie’s lifelong commitment to ministry. Educated in both public and Catholic schools in the Merced area, Sr. Rosalie attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School and later graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School. There, she was inspired by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart Community, whose witness led her to religious life. She entered the IHM Community in Los Angeles and later earned two master’s degrees from the University of San Francisco.
Following her profession of vows, Sr. Rosalie served for many years as a teacher and principal in Catholic schools throughout Camarillo, Los Angeles, Northridge, Merced, and Fresno. In 1988, she transitioned to the Fresno Public School system, where she devoted 20 years as a substitute administrator and teacher before retiring.
Though she has lived at a distance from Los Angeles for much of her religious life, Sr. Rosalie remains closely connected to the IHM Community through retreats, workshops, gatherings, and now virtual meetings that continue to nurture community bonds.
In addition to her work in education, Sr. Rosalie has been actively involved in parish ministry, serving at St. Thérèse Parish and currently at St. John’s Cathedral. With the cathedral’s full schedule of baptisms, weddings, funerals, and diocesan celebrations, she remains committed to offering her support wherever and whenever it is needed.
Sr. Rosalie currently serves part-time in the Diocese’s Office of Public Affairs where she assists with Diocesan reports, data, and contributions to the Diocesan magazine. She works alongside a dedicated team of professionals who bring their expertise to advancing diocesan Public Affairs initiatives.
Outside of ministry, Sr. Rosalie enjoys daily time in her garden and the companionship of her cat, Aimee.
