Last January 21, the Feast of Santo Nino was celebrated by the Filipino Community at the St. Paul Catholic Newman Center in Fresno. The group held a nine-day novena from January 12-20, 2024 in preparation for the feast day. A procession of the images of the Holy Child or Santo Nino was held around the surrounding areas of the parish as they recited, prayed and contemplated on the Glorious mysteries of the Holy Rosary.
A mass with Tagalog songs was celebrated by Fr. Byron Macias, Fr. Victor Hernando, and Deacon Rolando Nolasco. There was a traditional Sinulog dance performed by both adults and children to promote the Filipino culture and many traditional Filipino foods (lechon, pancit, lumpia, etc.) and delicacies were enjoyed by everyone during the Salo-Salo or fellowship after.
The Filipino community is always grateful to the support of Newman Center pastoral and administrative leaders and staff. We are hoping that you all will join us and participate in next year’s celebration of the Feast of Santo Nino at Newman Center. Come learn and enjoy the love & devotion to God of the Filipino community and be enriched with the Filipino culture of praying, dancing, singing, and eating. Mabuhay! Pit Senior! Viva Santo Nino!
